Seiko Astron GPS Solar. The ultimate in precision and performance, now in a new design for the next generation.
A new sharp and angular design for the ultimate traveller’s watch
Astron GPS Solar remains unsurpassed in its precision and utility as the watch for the international traveller. Thanks to its unique, high-efficiency GPS module, it connects to the GPS network and adjusts, with atomic clock precision, to every time zone* at the touch of a button, while taking all the
energy it needs from light alone. Over the past decade, Astron’s GPS technology has been refined and its functionality enhanced such that the latest generation, featuring Calibre 5X53 Dual-Time, offers the ultimate in precision, energy efficiency and ease of use for those who demand the very best in high
technology watchmaking.
Now, Seiko Astron adds four new watches with a design that is as cutting edge as the GPS Solar technology they contain. The cases are all in titanium and have a sharp, angular construction that is as
contemporary as it is refined.
This new series includes three watches with dials in silver, blue-grey, and black and a limited edition watch with a unique striped dial. The three watches will join the main Astron collection and will be available at the Seiko Boutiques and H&S Jewellers from July 2022. The limited edition watch will be available from May.
A solid titanium case and a sapphire crystal bezel
This new series has a contemporary feel thanks to the sleek lines, the slim profile and, most of all, the compact, angular design which flows seamlessly from the case through the lugs to the bracelet. The titanium of the case and bracelet has a scratch-resistant hard-coating, and thanks to the light weight of this material and the low centre of gravity of the case, the watches sit comfortably on the wrist. The sapphire crystal bezel is narrow so that the eye is drawn to the dial but all the same gives the whole watch a quiet brilliance that complements its technological uniqueness.
The indexes stand proud above the dial and are sharply cut. They, and the hour and minute hands, are coated with Lumibrite to enhance legibility in low light conditions. The sapphire glass has an anti-reflective coating to ensure that time can be read at a glance from any angle.
All four watches are powered by Seiko’s most advanced and slimmest GPS Solar movement, 5X53 Dual-Time. When time zone adjustment is required, all it takes is a simple push of a single button and the hands move faster than ever to the exact local time, including Daylight Saving Time**, thanks to a system that moves each hand independently. The wearer can also change the main time display instantly from home to local time and vice versa. In addition, Calibre 5X53 connects up to twice a day to the GPS network to maintain its precision anywhere in the world***.
**If the time zone adjustment is successful, the watch will display local Daylight Saving Time wherever this is in operation. (This does not apply when a time zone is selected manually.)
***When the dial detects sunlight, the watch connects to the GPS satellite network and adjusts automatically to the correct time. If the watch is hidden from light, it remembers the time of its last successful manual connection and attempts to receive the GPS signal again at that same time.

The limited edition watch shares all the same design characteristics as the other three versions but has a dial graced with horizontal stripes of different, alternating shades of grey. The bezel is of sapphire crystal and is also in a dark grey against which the UTC time zone markings stand out clearly.
